Malaysian Doctor Loses RM529,200 in Crypto Scam Investment Scheme
A 67-year-old Malaysian doctor suffered significant financial losses after falling victim to a sophisticated cryptocurrency scam. The fraud, which began in September 2025, involved fake investment platforms promoted through TikTok, ultimately costing the victim RM529,200 (approximately $320,000).
The scam operated through persuasive online presentations that appeared legitimate, convincing the doctor to make repeated transfers. Funds were diverted to various banking accounts under business-style identities, leaving no trace of the promised returns.
Perak Police leader Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin confirmed the investigation after receiving an official complaint. The case highlights the growing sophistication of crypto-related frauds targeting inexperienced investors through social media platforms.
